JB: Digipak Cover - Jamie xx, In Colour

Jamie xx - 'In colour'

  • This cover has many conventional aspects of a typical Jamie xx CD cover. To many, Jamie xx's identity is mysterious, he is unconventional in the way he portrays his image for a famous DJ. On none of his Singles or albums is he situated on the cover implying the fact that he wants his music to speak for him as opposed to his physical image unlike other mainstream dance DJs such as Avicci and David Guetta. Therefore, this cover is relatively stereotypical for perhaps a more 'basement' DJ who is very London in his style. Jamie xx therefore is not an identity rather an illusion.
  • Syneasthesia is also used in the cover as the name of the album is 'In colour', this implies a move forward and perhaps implies a metaphor that although things were essentially 'black and white', now, colour is used which is much more detailed and in depth. This may be used to hint towards the more enhanced experience the listeners are going to recieve from the new album.
